Hello! Travis here. I'm the one who
owns this particular little watering hole in the heart of lovely
Saratoga Springs, NY. Welcome to the Desperate Annie's website.
If you're visiting because you are familiar with D.A.'s, Thanks
for stopping by. I hope you enjoy the site. If you just happened
to stumble upon us, you must be pretty damn lost, but welcome
to our little corner of the planet anyway.
Welcome to "THE OWNER'S STOOL" section. For those of
you who may be put off by the name, sorry, but I thought it was
funny, and since I'm the one who pays the bills as well as being
the one who'll be maintaining this site, the name sticks. This
section is going to be used as my forum to say whatever it is
my silly little mind happens to have on it. The stool picture,
by the way, was actually a second choice. The less said about
that, the better. Anyway... I hope you all enjoy the site and
I welcome comments and suggestions about it.

Hello all. Yes, I know it's been
about a year since the last update, but certain things in my
world have taken precedence over my updating the site very often.
Many of you are aware that for nearly 2 years now my little sister
Lori has been waging a valiant, courageous, and difficult battle
against lymphoma.
It is with the heaviest and most
profoundly sad heart that I find myself typing you with the news
that Lori
lost that battle at 3:30am Friday morning 12/08/06.
Our parents, her husband, and myself were all at her bedside
when she passed away. And whereas the vision ofmy baby sister
breathing her last breath in front of my eyes, and our parents
is a picture I would rather not have in my head for the remainder
of my life, I am sooooo happy that I was at her side, and able
to be there with and for her, and I 'll forever consider it a
gift that I was afforded that chance.
She leaves behind a wonderful 5 year
old daughter, Mia....my niece whom I adore more than
any other human in this world. Please keep her in your prayers,
if you're so inclined.
I want to thank all of you for all of your caring, kindness,
and support over these past 2
years. It truly did help ease the pain of the most difficult
time in my life. To those of you who donated blood and or platelets
in her name, please know that those donations extended her life
and at times saved it. To those of you who registered as bone
marrow/stem cell donors, given the time and ability to tame Lori's
lymphoma...I'm sure that procedure would have saved her life.
Please continue doing those things even though my sister's pain
is over.

I've had to shut down The Bathroom Wall (guestbook) page of this site. Somehow folks have found a way to SPAM up guestbooks, and ours was getting hit hard. We were getting some pretty nasty, inappropriate messages up there, and often enough that it was getting to be more of a pain in the ass to erase them than it was worth. If we can figure out a way to put a new guestbook up, that won't get spammed, we will, and I'll let you know when and if that happens. Sorry that some assholes had to ruin that for everyone. The bastards are starting to infiltrate the Jukebox request page, so that may have to be shut down soon too. Make requests while you can!
In other news...If you are familiar with Friendster, there is now a DesperateAnnies account (one word, no apostrophe). Someone other than myself started it, but I have since taken it over. If you'd like to add the bar as a "friend", please do. Dig around, you'll find us, and send us an invite. There is now also a DesperateAnnies account on MySpace.com (Which we're on faaaaar more often).

The following is old news that I don't feel like deleting:
Due to popular demand, I have posted pictures of all five New
Year's Eve invitations on the "Take A Tour" page of
this site. People just kind of like to look at 'em, I guess.
In another note, both personal and
business, I'd like to put out a call to everyone, far and wide
to send the bar postcards. Not just any postcards...The tacky,
silly, fake state map postcards. You know...these kind:
We now have 49 states!!!! All we need to complete the dream is
Arizona. Sombody please come through.

by clicking the link. You might need Quicktime, which is a horribly
invasive program, sorry, but most folks seem to have it.
Plans are in the works for a revamping
of some of the pages on this site. the "Have A Seat"
and "Take A Tour" pages will soon be changed. The virtual
tour is just too big a file, so I'm scrapping the idea, besides,
if you're on this site, you probably know what the bar looks
like anyway. I am in the process of setting up a live camera
feed of the bar that will run a live shot every five minutes
or so. I'm also thinking of setting up a merchandise page, where
you'll be able to purchase all kinds of Desperate Annie's goodies.
Ah merchandise...the sweetest plum!
Well, I think that's about enough for the next 2-6 months or
so. Drop me a line, and let me know how you're doing, but don't
bother e-mailing me requests to update the site unless it's been
3 months. It simply won't do any good. I'm just too lazy.
